Thanksgiving
We have so much to be thankful for, but it is easy to start off the list. We are most thankful for a God who loves us and shows us his mercy and grace everyday! We had a great Thanksgiving here in Phenix City with family. Here is Kaylea in her turkey dress ready for the day.

Fall
It's crazy how busy life gets with a second little one! We have been blessed with two wonderful children who never cease to amaze us. It has been a busy fall at our house with the start of school and football season. It was extremely hard to go back to work this fall after spending the whole summer at home with my babies. They are both incredible blessings to my life and I can't believe I get to be their mom. Of course there are days that they test my patience, after all Jack is 2 :)
Jack has been a great big brother. He loves Kaylea and loves to help. Sometimes I hear him say the sweetest things to her. Like if she is crying he will say "It's okay baby girl." Or sometimes he will put her paci in her mouth if she is crying and tell her that it will be okay. Now that she is moving around (she is an expert crawling) and exploring her surroundings, he has gotten a little jealous. Mainly when she touches what he perceives to be his "stuff," but he is doing really well considering his stage in life. We are very proud of him for so many things. This summer he decided to be potty trained and now only wears diapers when he sleeps. I told him that it makes Thomas the Train cry when he goes potty in his Thomas undies. Since then we have had very few accidents and he still will say to me when he goes on the potty, "I make Thomas happy!" He is a very smart little boy, he knows all the common shapes, including an octagon which he knows has 8 sides, he can say the alphabet and can recognize all the letters, he can also tell you what sound most of the letters make, which he taught himself from his refrigerator phonics magnets, he can count, he can sing lots of songs, he says grace, he says a nighttime prayer, he brushes his teeth, he can spell his name, mommy, daddy and zoo, he loves to play sports and he loves his teams. His teams are the Orioles, Ravens and Auburn Tigers. A few weeks ago Bryce took him to the Auburn game and he now sings the fight song, Glory, Glory to Old Auburn and likes to take his shaker and yell "Waaaaaaaaaar Eagle, hey!"
My favorite routine with him is putting him to bed. We read at least 3 stories, which is fun because he can read most of them to me! His favorite stories recently have been Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Fruits for Little Lamb (about the fruits of the spirit) and Nighty-Night. He also likes the little Critter books and has a few of those memorized as well. I love reading with Jack. Working in education makes you realize even more so the importance of reading with your child at an early age. After we read, we often sing songs together. His recent requests have been, the Oriole song (Take me out to the ball game), Fly down the field (Auburn fight song) and Glory Glory (to old Auburn). If you couldn't guess already, our little one is obsessed with all things sports :)
Kaylea has been growing up so fast. It is hard to believe that she is 6 months old. I really don't know where the time has gone! She started solid foods at 4 months. She is a great eater! At just over 4 months old she was a proficient scooter and could get herself anywhere she wanted to go. Just over 5 months old she finally got the hang of crawling and has been non-stop ever since. She is now putting herself in the sitting position and is starting to pull herself up. She is still working on her strength to pull herself up consistently, but every once in a while she can do it for a few seconds at a time. She has the most beautiful smile that warms our hearts. She also has an infectious giggle which you can't help but love! At the beginning of October Kaylea and I took a quick trip to Maryland for a long weekend to celebrate Mom-Mom's 80th birthday and to meet baby Molly. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to see everyone again at Christmas time!
We had a special visit from Mimi and Pop-Pop at the end of October. They were here about a week and we had a wonderful time together. While they were here we went to The Rock Ranch. If you live within an hour and a half of the ranch and have small children it is a must go! Jack had so much fun! There is so much to do there, but I think his favorite thing was driving his own mini John Deere Gator. He also enjoyed a train ride, corn box, a corn shooter, a pumpkin catapult, cow inflatable, a giant jumping pillow and a tunnel slide to name a few!

Where did the summer go?!
I can't believe summer is almost over! July was a busy month, first we headed to Myrtle Beach for almost 2 weeks, then came home for a few days before heading up to Maryland for a week and a half. We finally came home and had to go to work for 2 days :(
In June we went to a Sesame Street Live show and Jack loved it! It was about how Super Grover lost his superness and what he needed to do to get it back. If we ask Jack what happened he will say "Grover lost his superness, he can't fly!" He got a soccer ball with Sesame Street characters on it as his memento. Here are Jack and Daddy at the show.
Every summer for the past 6 summers we have met my family in Myrtle Beach for vacation. It makes for a long trip when you have 2 kids under 2.5 in the car for 9 hours, but it is well worth it! Jack is slightly obsessed with all things sports and Myrtle Beach is slightly obsessed with golf, so Jack was in heaven. While at the beach we bought him a putter and he was in love! He gets so excited anytime he "hits it in the hole" as he says. Nana and Pops got Jack a little plastic golf set for Easter, which started his golf obsession, the only problem is that those clubs were right handed and Jack swings left handed, so he was putting a dent in the plastic clubs trying to hit them left handed.
Besides golf, we spent time at the beach and the pool relaxing and spending time with family. Not only do my parents and sister and brother in law come but my aunts and uncles and cousins too. We had several cookouts and enjoyed everyone's company. Here are some pictures from the beach!
After we got home from the beach we were back in Alabama for about a week before we headed to Maryland. Kaylea had her 2 month check up while we were back in Alabama and she had a good report. Weighed 9 pounds 9 ounces and was 22.5 inches long! She is getting so big! At 7 weeks she started rolling over from her belly to her back! Here are a couple of Kaylea pictures :)
The drive to Maryland is even longer than the drive to Myrtle Beach. On the way there it took us about 15.5 hours and 16 on the way home, but it was well worth it to be with my family. I was so happy that I could bring Kaylea up to meet Mom-Mom and not have to wait until Christmas!
While we were in Maryland we went to the Oriole game on day, it was an afternoon game and it was pretty hot outside but Jack had a good time. We bought him an Orioles shirt and some orange shorts to wear to the game. We also rode the light rail into downtown so he was so excited to ride on a train.
We got home from Maryland early Sunday morning and rested up on Sunday. Unfortunately we had to go to work Monday and Tuesday of this week and work registration. Fortunately we don't have to be back again until Tuesday, but students don't start until the 20th.
