We have had a great spring so far, including a spring break trip to Maryland (although right before the trip was not so great). The last week of March was our spring break and we asked Jack where he wanted to go and he said Maryland to see Mimi and Pop Pop. So we book our flight and were headed that way from Monday through Saturday. The first weekend of spring break was pretty lazy, just relaxing and enjoying spending time with the kids. Our plan was to wake up early Monday morning, take the kids to daycare, then come home, pack and run a couple errands. Unfortunately this plan was foiled by Bryce and I feeling sick. Once I felt well enough to drive I dropped the kids off at school, then came home and slept a little longer. Feeling a little better after some rest, I got up and started to pack. Bryce still didn't feel well, but was able to help pack. Kota and Pudge were scheduled to be at the kennel all week and Nala was going to go home with Lise. Since we were so sick and running behind schedule, Lise came and took the boys to the kennel and was going to come back for Nala since she had escaped our yard and hadn't come back yet. We finally were packed and I was headed to the Nissan dealership to take back a rental car and Bryce was finishing up at home and going to pick up the kids and then pick me up at the dealership on our way out of town. This is when things really took a turn for the worse. As I am driving by the driveway of the property behind us, I see Nala on the side of the road and immediately realize she had been hit by a car and didn't survive. I pulled over and called Bryce, he came and got her and took her back to our house. Devastated and physically drained from being sick, he had no choice, but to wrap her up and leave her at the house until we returned home since we were already running late and had a plane to catch. We finally got the kids picked up and car returned to the dealership and were on our way to Atlanta. We choose not to tell Jack about it until we returned from Maryland. Since we were not going to be with the dogs the week of spring break anyway, the situation almost seemed surreal and for me, I couldn't really process what had happened. The hardest part was the Monday that we returned having her picked up to be cremated. That is what really brought closure and reality to me. We will miss Nala she was our first furbaby (she is the one in the foreground).
While in Maryland we had a nice time with my family spending time together and relaxing. We took the kids to see the Easter bunny. As you can probably tell from the photo, Jack wasn't too thrilled with the Easter bunny, in fact I told him that if he wanted to make sure he was getting candy on Easter morning he was going to have to see the Easter bunny himself and tell him. I am proud of him for even getting near him :)

While in Maryland the kids school day pictures came back. Their individual ones turned out really well, not so much the sibling picture.
Finally we got home late Saturday night and we were exhausted. We put the kids straight to bed and soon followed ourselves. Easter morning Jack enjoyed his basket and Kaylea did too :) We ate breakfast and headed to church. Here is Jack in his Sunday best!
After church on Easter Sunday our church always holds and Easter dinner. So as we sat down to eat Jack was too interested in playing with the other kids. So we let him get down to play. Well he running because he was being chased by another kid and bam, he runs straight into a tree and has an instant black and blue knot on his head.
So that cut our dinner short and we just headed home. He wouldn't let us ice it, so it took a little bit to go down, but was looking a little better by the end of the day.
Last weekend the Cubs were in Atlanta for a weekend series, so Bryce and I headed to the game on Friday and Lise watched the kids for us. We had a great time just the two of us! Sunday we made it a family affair and brought the kids with us. Jack had a great time and after the game he got to run the bases!
