Jack Walking

Well we finally have a walker on our hands.  He had taken steps for a long time, then regressed after his surgery.  He is finally starting to walk all of the place!  Here is a little video.

One Year Ago

One year ago yesterday I lost a very special person, my PopPop.  Looking back it was a difficult time losing someone that you love so much.  Recently an acquaintance from high school pass away suddenly and people were telling her family how they were sorry for their lose and that they were praying for them.  One angry family member ranted how he was thankful for the prayers but doesn't understand how God and Jesus could take away their family member.  He sarcastically sneered, thank you Jesus for taking my sister.  This made me think about how sad I was when PopPop died, but at the same time because PopPop and I are both Christians, I know that one day we will meet again in heaven.  I am so thankful for the gift of Jesus and that I don't have to be angry that PopPop is no longer here on earth.  Of course I will always be sad that he is gone, but I can think about all the good times that we had together and that one day we will be reunited.

    

Happy Easter!

Today in church we sang this song.  It is a wonderful reminder of what Christ has done for us and how he is all we need.  My favorite line is in the last verse: "No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand."  Such an awesome reminder and something to ponder this Easter!"

Bunny Time

Today we visited the Easter Bunny.  Jack was ok for a quick snapshot, then a little unsure of the large hairy thing holding him :) 

Spring Break 2011

This year for spring break we started off by taking Jack to the hospital early Monday morning to have tubes put in his ears.  The surgery went well, it only takes a couple of minutes, the longest part was waiting before hand because Jack was still tired and hungry, but we couldn't feed him after midnight.  After the surgery we had to wait around for a little bit and Jack was happy as can be then.  When we got home he took a nap.  Unfortunately when he woke up from his nap and drank his milk he got sick again.  The anesthesia made him sick through Tuesday.  He could finally keep his food and milk down on Wednesday.  Monday after his surgery we came home and got ready to leave while Jack napped.  We left later that day to go to Helen, Georgia.  We stayed there from Monday through Thursday morning.  It was great to get away, here are some pictures from our trip.

It's been a while!

Well it has been a while since I have a chance to give an update, and I don't have any pictures either.  The camera is dead and I can't find the charger.  So where to start?!  We have been super busy here recently.  The end of February and March were filled with lots of softball.  Jack enjoys going to the games, but a lot of them don't start until after his bed time!  He got a good report at his 1 year check up, except for the fluid in his ears.  So we tried a round of antibiotics but to no avail, his ears were still full.  The Dr. referred us to an ENT and his appointment was this past Monday.  The verdict is that he is having tubes put in on Monday.  The tests showed that both ears have fluid and he can't hear out of his right ear and he is somehow hearing something out of his left ear, but not much.  The Dr was impressed with as little as Jack hears how many words he can say.  He vocabulary includes: da-da, ma-ma, ball, bye, hi, dog, pop-pop, and nana. 
Mom and Dad came to visit last weekend, we had a great time together!  In preparation for their visit, I taught JJ how to say pop-pop and didn't tell Dad.  So he had a nice surprise when he heard Jack say Pop-Pop.  By the end of their trip Jack would point at Dad and say Pop-Pop.    
Spring break started today after school, Monday after Jack's surgery we are heading to Helen, GA for a few days.  We are excited to have a little vacation!  Hopefully Jack is feeling better, we had to pick him up from school today and he has been throwing up ever since :(   

A Look Back!

One year ago today, I went to the hospital because my water broke.  Baby C was on its way (remember at that time we didn't know it was a boy yet).  After 7 hours of labor just after midnight central time on February 11th, Jack Andrew Duvall Ciancio made his debut.  Hard to believe that the 8.5 lb 21.5 inch boy would grow and learn so much in just one year!  Here he is just a few minutes after being born :)

This is our first family photo (I know I look like crap, I am still loopy from the medicine they put in my IV, when they asked me if I wanted more of the medicine I said yes because it made me feel weird and I thought to myself better to feel weird and in pain than normal and in pain, remember no epidural)

Today I was looking back over the blog at his first year of life and it is amazing how easy it is to forget just how little and helpless he was in his first few months, then slowly we learned his cries, grunts and coos.  Everyday we pray that he continues to grow healthy and in the path that the Lord has set for him and we pray that he will never know a day where Jesus isn't his Savior.The past 6 months have seemed to be more of a blur than the first 6, I think because we have been in school and don't get to spend as much time with him during the day.  We are looking forward to summer and getting to spend our days with him again.  It has been an exciting year and we look forward to many more with our precious baby boy.  We are thankful for all of our family and friends and the support and prays they have given us over this first year.  I leave you with a few pictures of Jack over his first 12 months!
